Stagiaires avec leurs familles d'accueil ! Students with their host families! (And other photos)

It's been a busy week for many stagiaires and the instructor team. Before anything else, here is a photo of Saint Louis that I have been promising for a while. We have classes from 9:00 am to 11:45 am when we take a break for lunch. Afternoon activities begin promptly at 1:20 pm and continue until 4:00 pm.

I wanted to take this opportunity to show the many photos that have been sent to me over the last two weeks. I didn't always receive context for these photos, but please enjoy them nevertheless!

Evie's host family told me that this was at the Puy du Fou event

Dawne-Cheryl at a nearby town with her host family
The images were a tad smaller in size and resolution, so I couldn't blow them up as big as I normally like to.

I'm told this was at a nearby medieval castle

If you did not see your student here, I am working diligently to collect photos from host families so that I can hopefully post more in the future and show every student at least once outside of a school setting! Below are some other random photos that have been shared with me or that I've taken over the last two weeks that I have not had the opportunity to post.

Evie introducing students to theater, one of the afternoon activity options

Molly and Jean-Luc at the Fête de Musique

Luka, Victor, Hannah, Jean-Luc, Cassie, Camille, Katrina, and Avery pose for a picture in the cafeteria

Christian, Dawne-Cheryl, Annalyse, Ruby, Emily, Rachel-Claire, Grace, Mara, and Aminata pose for a picture in the cafeteria

Summer, Evie, Molly, and Yara pose for a picture at lunch

As a private school, the lunches are much higher quality than what you would find in public schools. I may have missed a table when taking these pictures, so if you don't see your student at lunch, fear not, for they were there!

The students preparing to practice the Marseillaise, the French national anthem... some were more enthusiastic than others!

Evie and some students put up the coat of arms that students made to represent themselves in preparation for starting our "quests" which are activities that students complete each week in pursuit of being knighted at the end of the program. Our mascot is the "chevalier" due to Saumur's rich history in the medieval hierarchy.

Monick, Abby, Christian, and Rachel-Claire play cards

Mara, Grace, and Emily play their own game of cards
The students have taken to playing card games in the morning before classes start and during pauses throughout the day

A host dad, who is a jujitsu instructor, invited students to a demonstration where they learned and practiced some moves

Hopefully, you've found several pictures of your students among the various images in this post. We would add that they are doing great and making excellent progress (leaps and bounds) in their French abilities. Be on the lookout for another post this week with photos from an (optional) visit to the zoo and a community engagement activity we did recently.

We leave early Friday morning (7:00 am) for Normandy, and will not return until Saturday evening (9:00 pm). We will be celebrating the 4th of July on Sunday, July 3rd with a big picnic together and some other fun activities. Needless to say, it is going to be a very busy weekend. You can expect to see lots of photos early next week.
